Hey all, I’m wondering if Apple would replace my MacBook since it’s still under warranty. I do video editing and was super excited to upgrade, but now I’ve noticed a green stuck pixel. I’ve tried software to fix it, but no luck. Once you see it, it’s impossible to unsee, you know?
Yeah, you should definitely get it replaced. That’s a solid reason if you ask me.
That’s what I’m thinking too, but I hate that I even have to worry about it. I spent £2500 and Apple might deny me a warranty replacement? Thanks, Apple…
Wait, can they really deny you? That seems messed up. Isn’t that illegal in some places?
I’ve been reading online that apparently Apple can refuse you if it’s just one pixel. I’m scheduled to go in this week, so fingers crossed it works out.
Depends on where you are. Some places have laws about how many dead pixels are allowed before they have to do something.
Do you have AppleCare+? If not, you might want to consider it before you go in.
Thanks for sharing! Always good to hear others’ experiences.
I totally get it, stuck pixels drive me crazy too. I’ve heard some brands need 4 or more before they’ll replace, but Apple’s usually pretty good with stuff like this, especially on a new laptop.
Once you see that dead pixel, you can’t unsee it. I know what you mean.
I think Apple will help you out. They pride themselves on quality, and this is a clear defect. You might get some strange looks, but you’re within your rights. My MacBook Pro came with a small crack in the screen, and I’m debating whether to get it fixed now or wait.
If it’s under warranty or covered by consumer protection, you should be fine.
Apple replaced my Mac for a single dead pixel a few years ago, and I don’t think their policy has changed since then.
If you don’t already have AppleCare, you should add it. They’re more likely to help you out with it.
