iPhone 13 Lagging Way Too Much

My iPhone 13 storage is 122GB full (128GB). Is this the reason my phone is slowing down? The camera app just does not open or close smoothly, and the UI just feels slower in general.

Yeah, a full hard drive for any computer isn’t good.

Yes, solid-state drives do get slower when they are near their full capacity.

Can be the issue. What is your battery health?

That can’t be the problem then. Just try to delete some apps you never use and see if the problem is fixed.

I agree. My keyboard was really screwing up, and I had to reset it. App icons aren’t always generated in time as I scroll through settings. Sometimes, even the Apple account (name) doesn’t load properly.

I have an iPhone 13 with 62GB free, 94% battery health. No lag at all.

Time to do a cleanup of apps and delete stuff you no longer need. Once a year, I go through everything and every app. I ask myself: Have I needed this in the last three months? Will I need this in the next three months? If not, I get rid of it. I did that on my iPhone 15 PM last week and cleared 12GB.

One thing I appreciate about Apple is how optimized the devices are. I’ve seen my friend’s iPhone 13 Pro with 127/128GB completely filled, and the phone worked as normal as ever—no lags or slowdown.

Yes, the reason is that all types of SSDs get slow when they are above 85% full. I don’t know the exact reason, but it has to do with the way data indexing is handled during operations.

The effect cascades. The more data you have, the more space it needs for processing. Delete some data and check again.
