What can I use the Lightning to USB adapter for?

USB devices that don’t require too much power.

But a USB drive doesn’t need much power either.

You both are wrong, it’ll only work with a USB drive that doesn’t need much power.

@Bran
What about a USB drive that doesn’t need much power?

Should work for a USB stick, which uses flash memory.

That’s exactly what I used it for.

To plug in USB drives, you need the one with a lightning port as well for extra power.

Oh sorry, I thought you meant you were using a big USB drive that needs power to run. I thought a small USB stick would be fine. My mistake.

Whaaaat? They work? Like every one of the USB sticks that I’ve tried gives me the warning.

@Jordan
I think what OP meant was that the original plan was to use it with a flash drive, but it gave the message in the post instead of working.

I used mine for an external DAC that I plugged my nice set of in-ear monitors into to truly enjoy lossless audio.

Yes, even works with an audio interface too.

This time of year, it makes a great Christmas Tree ornament! :laughing:

I’m using this adapter for connecting a SanDisk flash drive.

I’ve got the adapter that has a USB port and also a lightning port so that you can charge and use the USB at once. Certain thumb drives only work when I’ve got the power connected. Maybe you could try putting the phone on a wireless charger and then attempting to use the adapter?

Mainly for self-powered devices:

  • External caddies
  • Photo machines
  • Etc.

OP, where’d you get the adapter from?

Streaming audio and video to another device. The only way to get lossless audio out of an iPhone.

A keyboard at most, I guess.
