I didn’t know that the iPhone supported this, i guess this is only for the 16 Pros and 15 Pros (because 15 and 16 only have USB C 2.0 and older iPhones don’t even have USB-C), but knowing how restricted Apple is with these features i’m actually surprised that this even works.
Sorry for the potato quality, i guess the iPads camera is really bad in low light.

iPad 10th gen can do this too even tho it has usb 2.0 typec
I tried with my 9th gen and it doesn’t work, but it could also be because I’m adapting the USB-C adapter to lightning, I don’t have any lightning to HDMI adapter.
@Brennan
My guess is if they did it with iPhone then it would mean less laptop or iPad sales. Makes sense but I would love to have the feature on my iPhone.
The USB-C port on modern iPhones and iPads is actually pretty full featured. You can plug in USB-C to HDMI adapters, USB-C to network adapters, a USB flash drive… It all seems to work. Plugging an iPhone into wired ethernet is actually pretty funny when you think about it.
LOL Androids do that nearly for a decade now, plus the output image gets adjusted to the aspect ratio of the display. Pretty dumb and useless with having black bars on the output image of iPhone.

Yeah, but you still have an android at the end of the day. Lol.
@Zander
Which is definitely a win. Androids benefits don’t just stop with my example, and Apple’s downsides with this. Enjoy your black bars now that you get a taste that has been around for a decade.
@Jamie
And you decided to make this known why? You’re in the iPhone subreddit mate. If you take one look at Samsung or any other android subreddits you’ll see many issues as well. Your comment is irrelevant and immature.
