Since when does Apple ask for ratings on apps?

I just got a prompt asking me to rate the TV+ app again.

Apple now does this because you can delete apps and reinstall them from the App Store. So, they work like other apps, and now they ask for ratings. You can turn these prompts off for all apps.

Just go to Settings → App Store → In-App Ratings & Reviews

But doesn’t Apple need to code that rating prompt in intentionally? Why are they pushing people to rate the app? The code doesn’t have to be there.

Why not? Apple added this feature to help all developers get feedback. Reviews are useful, and the prompt usually only appears once.

For some reason, I keep getting it multiple times for an app I sideloaded—LiveContainer, even though it’s not on the App Store.

Password apps are very competitive. Every good review helps. You can’t just rely on being pre-installed.

I’ve been seeing these prompts since last year on my Apple TV and Notes apps.

All apps in the App Store follow the same rules.

I think this applies only to apps you can delete. Since you can redownload them from the App Store, they have reviews.

Why would you care about passwords so much? It’s just passwords, not a game like Candy Crush or Minecraft. Lol.
