I’ve been using my 15 Pro without a case for about six months, and the blue titanium is really sensitive. Even without dropping it, the coating wears down, and I’ve got tiny white spots on the frame. When I do drop it, the coating breaks, leaving big white marks. It feels great in the hand, but the durability isn’t great for this color.

Mine has been case-free since launch, also in blue titanium, and still no scratches.

Are you sure? Maybe check under good lighting.
@Yani
I saw MKBHD’s review and chose natural titanium just for this reason.

I got lucky. I wanted blue or black, but back in October 2023, they were all out of stock. Delivery time was crazy—2 to 3 weeks! Natural titanium was available for next-day delivery, so I just went with it. Turns out that was the right call.
Titanium is great at resisting scratches, but it’s not the best when it comes to drops.
It’s like scratch resistance and drop durability are opposites.

Maybe it’s tough but brittle? I always thought titanium was flexible.
@Ray
Yeah, brittle is the right word! Titanium is stronger than aluminum, but the iPhone 15 design is different. The back panel is a separate glass piece, and it’s much easier to break than older models. So, even though titanium is strong, the phone itself is more fragile.
@Teo
Oh right, the back isn’t titanium. That makes sense.

And the color of the phone matters too. I have a black iPhone and used it without a case for a couple of months—no scratches at all. But I ended up putting a case on it because I’m always using my phone, and sometimes I don’t have a safe place to set it down. No way I’m putting it on rough concrete.

Titanium can actually take a hit. I dropped mine from a pretty high spot onto concrete twice, and it barely dented. An older iPhone with aluminum would’ve been wrecked. It’s definitely strong.
@Avery
You got really lucky with that.
Glass is still glass, and it’s only a matter of time before it cracks—especially when it’s fused with titanium.

Actually, my back glass did break on the second drop, but I got it fixed. I meant the titanium frame itself—it held up way better than the aluminum ones. The paint still scrapes, but it doesn’t dent as much.
Anyone having issues?

Yeah… crackling speakers, bad battery life on data, OLED screen issues (green tint in spots and grainy texture), and overheating.

That sounds rough.
Been running it careless for almost a year. No regrets!

Oops… I meant caseless!
