How do I keep hotspot from staying on? It keeps turning off after 1 minute after no devices are connected to it. Tried contacting support, they said it’s “a feature” and there is no way to disable this so-called “feature.” Are there any workarounds or something?
It only stays on if another iPhone is connected to it. If you connect any other non-Apple device, it drops the connection after some inactivity time. They call this a “feature,” I call it “BS!” lol Every hotspot app out there has a user-settable “timeout feature” from 1 minute to unlimited. The only workaround till they fix this “feature” is by USB tethering which doesn’t time out.
@Leighton
Still times out for me if I use USB tethering, sadly. I agree, it is nonsense.

For me, it stays on indefinitely with USB. Make sure to turn off WiFi from settings, not from the notification bar. The only downside of USB is that it’s only compatible with PCs and Macs. Other than that, it works great—I’ve been using it for 8 hours. This topic comes up often in these subs; many others are struggling with it, yet Apple doesn’t seem to care about putting in a real user-selectable timeout feature.
Tell it to stay on, or it’s grounded.

I guess this was supposed to be a joke.
Wdym it doesn’t stay on? Mine stays on, not sure why they say it’s a feature. Have you contacted more support specialists? Also, maybe there’s a setting somewhere, but I highly doubt that one. Do you also have enough data for hotspot?
@Jules
If there are no devices connected to it, it automatically turns off like some sort of timeout feature to save energy. Yes, I contacted Apple Support. They said it’s a “feature,” and apparently, I’m not the only person who has had that issue. And data is not the issue here.
Your first two sentences contradict each other. I have no idea what you’re actually asking.

-
Hotspot of main device turns on.
-
Another device of mine connects.
-
Said another device disconnects because the things I do require moving.
-
Hotspot of main device automatically turns off because no devices are connected to the said hotspot.
@Keegan
Try using Siri to turn the hotspot on. Doing this seems to leave it on permanently, or at least for a much longer period.

I’ll try that.
@Keegan
Apple already told you that this is how hotspot on iPhone works. What do you want us to tell you?

Optional workarounds. Third-party apps or something.
