Is it possible to fix my phone without my parents knowing about it?

My iPhone is busted. My screen is completely messed up, and I can’t access anything because it doesn’t register me touching it.

This phone is technically in my dad’s name. It’s still under warranty, but I haven’t taken it to get fixed yet, partly because I worry my dad will get an alert or something and know my phone is broken. If I go get it fixed, will my dad know?

Bro just tell him that your iPhone is broken? Are you scared or what? You can try a hard restart (press volume up, volume down, and hold the power button until the iPhone shuts down).

Yes, I’m scared lol. He’ll get upset and say I’m irresponsible and give me a long lecture.

The hard reset won’t work; the actual screen is broken.

@Gael
But if you go behind his back and get caught for being sneaky, is that worse?

I live far away from him, so I don’t know how he could ever find out unless Apple actually alerts him.

So you’re going to fix it behind his back and prove he’s right?

I didn’t break my phone, so no, I’m not being irresponsible.

@Gael
How did it break? It’s your phone; you’re responsible for your phone.

A man threw it on the ground, on purpose, to break it. I can’t control other people. I’m being responsible by trying to get it fixed.

@Gael
Being responsible would be telling your parents someone intentionally broke your phone and going after him for damages.

Maybe if you had a normal parent. But my dad is a worrier and would get upset and overreact. Getting the phone fixed is still the responsible thing to do, and I’m doing it.

The only way he would know is if you don’t have the money to get it fixed, which if you’re under 18 and there’s a repair cost, a parent will have to be there for them to take payment. Limited warranty doesn’t cover accidental issues, only mechanical failures within the first 12 months of purchase.

Bro, they’ll notify your dad like immediately. If you’re unlucky, Tim Apple might come over in person to tell your dad about you and your broken phone.

If the processor and FaceID sensor still work, you might be in good shape because you only need to buy another iPhone and swap some parts. If not, it’s game over.

So there’s no way?

Bro :sob: just go to some repair shop and fix the screen. It’ll cost some money, and you’re fine. As long as it’s your phone (as in: you can enter it), no one cares if it’s in your father’s name.

@Darcy
Phew, thanks! I’ll do that.
