My iPhone recently started playing music or reels in the background. Phone is locked, placed in pocket or next to bed and literally starting playing something. The player looks like on the as I attached to this post. I’m unable to stop it. I even don’t have the YouTube app in background apps. Even if I have and I delete it from the background the music still playing. And I am not using any other apps like instagram or TikTok. Only Yt reels. Music stops playing after few seconds. That’s weird and I wonder if some of you has the same issue? I have added the discussion flair because I don’t think there is any other solution than waiting for iOS update or YouTube update. Just curious if someone has the same issue. iPhone 16 pro with 18.1.1 iOS.
Seeing this myself with YouTube too. So far, have not found a solution.

It’s definitely a new bug in the YouTube app. I fix it by just closing the app. Not ideal but it doesn’t play in the background after I close it lol.
Sometimes I have this when I play something in Safari and I forget to close the tab, maybe check the web browsers? You might have some tab open there.

Most likely this is the answer. But to expand on this - this could even be some stupid autoplay video on some website you visited somewhere, you maybe didn’t even see it start playing in the background.
