So my charger heads’ prongs look a bit burnt and there are some little golden bits in the same spot? Does anyone know what this is, it’s one of the fast chargers, and I mostly have it plugged into an extension cord. Sometimes, when I put it into the extension, it sort of sparks?
I do have a very heavy fear of housefires and it’s really twisting my stomach thinking that maybe I have a faulty plug/my extension cord. My extension cord mostly houses my lamp, my Alexa, and nothing else. I’m in school now so I can’t check my room, and it’s really scaring me that my room may be charred.
Does it wipe off? The rest of your charger looks pretty dirty so it could just be that. Though I will admit the tips do look burnt more than they look dirty, but it’s worth a shot.

That just happens sometimes when you plug something into an outlet that’s switched on, nothing to worry about. I’ve had that happen with pretty much every charger etc. that I’ve used.

I have tried to wipe it off but to no avail. My mum’s checking it when she gets home so possibly she could fix it? If it is burning, I could get a new one on Friday, but I’m not sure how much they are
@Addison
Hmm, not exactly sure then. I’ll have to check my own charger when I get back home to see if mine looks similar to yours, could potentially just be normal for them to look like that after some time. I think a new one would probably cost £30-40 or so from the Apple store, so if it can be fixed (or isn’t faulty), you can save a decent bit of cash!

Dear lord, that’s a lot of money

Yeah, you definitely pay for the Apple logo. By the way, I just checked out my own charger and it also has some black marks on the prongs, so I think you’re good. Could be that the sparks you mentioned seeing are causing these small burns/marks on the metal part, but since my own charger also has them, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
