Green Gradient on iPhone 12

So on my phone, really, really, REALLY dark grays that usually look black on the bottom of my screen look green on the top. But when I put a pitch-black image, the whole screen is black, obviously… It’s very unnoticeable when you’re watching something bright, but it’s hell when you’re watching a dark movie horizontally! I found an image on Google, but mine kinda looks like that. Instead of on the edges, it just shifts from bottom to top, and mine is not as bad.

What might cause this? Is it fixable? It’s not a tech support question—it’s just a discussion.

Looks like the same/similar OLED panel issue as iPhone 11 Pro (I had this), which I think both had P-OLED. My 11P also started showing the solid tint when unlocking, so I submitted for repair under warranty, and Apple replaced the display.

The 12 series were especially known to get this issue on its OLEDs early on. It happens to all OLEDs, but the 12 series had it bad and early.

Almost all OLED panels have this burning issue, turning green—just a matter of time.

You got Apple Intelligence on your iPhone 12—you lucky one! /s

Not fixable. Just OLED’s way of degradation.

The iPhone 12 series had a green tint issue—it drove me nuts on mine. I ended up selling it and upgrading to the 13 Pro at the time. Sadly, it’s hardware, so you’d need a new phone if it annoys you.
