Only thing I can think of is checking your iCloud settings to ensure notes are being synced. Do you have another device you can check for the notes?

My iCloud is synced, and the notes are still on my iPad but completely gone from my phone.
Have you changed or reset your phone recently? If you’re syncing to iCloud, they should appear after some time. Also, check if they’re stored locally or on iCloud.
Can you access your notes on iCloud.com?
How much available storage do you have?

It might be due to your mail account. Try adding your mail account in Settings > Notes > Accounts, and then toggle ‘Notes’ on to refresh.
This happened to me after updating to 18. I toggled my accounts (Google, iCloud) off and on, and my notes showed up.
Make sure you’re in your iCloud folder. If you have other accounts synced, you might be in the wrong section (like Outlook instead of iCloud).
Go to Settings > iCloud > Notes. Toggle off sync, then back on. Close and reopen the Notes app.
They’re likely in an email or cloud account. Did you recently lose access to or sign out of any accounts?
Did you change phones recently? Were they in iCloud?
I just checked my own notes to make sure they didn’t disappear , all good here!

Same! My heart was racing, but they’re all there.
I rushed to check my notes too! If you have a backup, you can access it from iCloud.
It depends on whether you backed them up to iCloud. Without a backup, a reset or new phone might mean they’re gone.
I had the same problem once. My iCloud Notes sync was turned off. You might need to re-enable it in iCloud settings.
At Verizon, I often saw this when customers had a Microsoft email on their iPhone, which defaults to syncing notes there. If you lost access to that email, you’d lose the notes too.
Consider Google Keep. I haven’t found the Notes app reliable, but Google Keep has been great.
