Activated random sim on my iphone, could I get hacked?

So I’m traveling internationally and needed to unlock my phone. I got approved from att but needed to a SIM card from another carrier to finish the unlock.

I went to a local store and they popped in a sim for me, I used my pin to activate it and swapped mine back in. It worked and my phone is unlocked but now I’m wondering if I screwed activating another pin on my phone.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

How do you think you can get hacked?

Like I activated that random sim on my phone, I’m concerned they can use that sim I activated on another device to receive/send texts from my number. Like 2fa codes

Hacking via SIM is possible but you would need to be of interest to a nation state or someone with similar capabilities.

But I activated the sim for them on my phone and gave it back to them

@Sloane
You never activated the sim, the new sim activated your phone. Unless you setup a plan with the new carrier and ported your number over, that sim cannot be used to receive 2FA codes. All it did was remove the sim lock on the iPhone.

@Vale
Thanks so much! I’ll sleep better tonight
